Give the cake and desserts a place of their own.

A dessert display needs more than a spare table. Match the surface to the cake board, serving pieces and handoff plan so the setup looks considered and works when it is time to serve.

Measure the display before choosing the table

Ask the baker or dessert provider for the dimensions of the complete display, including the cake board or stand. For individual desserts, list the trays, risers, labels and serving utensils. The cake’s diameter alone does not describe the space needed to display and serve it.

Make a simple paper layout using those dimensions. Leave a place for someone to set down serving tools without moving the display. If a heavy cake, substantial stand or other concentrated load is involved, give the rental team the details and have the vendor confirm that the selected surface is suitable. Do not infer a load rating from a product photograph.

Choose between a focal point and a serving line

A round table can make a single cake the center of a display, especially when the surrounding space allows it to be approached from several sides. A rectangular table provides a longer arrangement for several trays. The right choice depends on the presentation and service plan, not simply the guest count.

For example, compare the 48-inch round table with the 6-foot rectangular table. Draw the cake board or trays on the actual tabletop outline before deciding. A 48-inch circle is not a 48-inch square: its usable width narrows toward the edges. Keep display pieces securely supported within the surface.

Place the display for both photographs and service

Look at the background that will appear behind the cake, then check the real movement around that spot. A wall may provide a simple backdrop, but the baker and server still need access. Avoid creating a queue in front of a doorway or on the main route between dining and other activities.

Ask the baker about placement, exposure and timing if the display is outdoors. A visually appealing lawn or sunny corner may not suit the dessert or its stand. Choose a stable, appropriate location with the venue and vendor; do not move a loaded cake table to improve a photograph.

Choose the linen around the display

Select the table first and the linen second. On a standard-height 48-inch round table, a 90-inch round linen gives a shorter drop and a 108-inch round linen reaches the floor. Use the product’s linen choices to select a size and color intentionally; the table and linen remain separate rental items.

A full-length cloth can help conceal the table legs, while a shorter covering may suit a simpler display. Keep fabric clear of the working route and any equipment. If you want an accent layer, review the runner and overlay guide rather than assuming the accent replaces the base linen.

Questions for the people handling the display
MomentDecide in advance
Before deliveryWho places the empty table and linen, and when will it be ready?
Dessert arrivalWho receives the vendor and confirms the final display position?
ServingWho supplies cutting tools, plates and utensils, and who serves?
Clear-downWho removes food and decor before the rental table is collected?

These are responsibilities to assign, not services automatically included with the table. If the display will become a serving station later, plan the reset and the person handling it. Leave cake handling to the people responsible for it.

Add a dedicated line to the rental list

List the display table, its linen and any separately selected rentals by name and quantity. Subtract a venue-supplied table only after confirming its dimensions, condition and availability. For the rest of the food stations, use the buffet and serving-table checklist so a dessert display is not accidentally counted twice.

Send the event date, location, display measurements and vendor arrival time with your quote request. Central Florida Event Rentals serves Mount Dora, Eustis, Tavares, Apopka, Leesburg and Clermont. We can review the table options; your baker or dessert provider should confirm the display requirements.
