Tables & practical layouts

Six feet or eight? Choose the length your plan needs.

Once you know you want rectangular tables, the next choice is length. A longer tabletop gives you more surface, but the right rental depends on the space around it, the job it needs to do and the linen finish you want.

Compare the actual tabletop dimensions

The six-foot rectangular table measures 72 × 30 inches; the eight-foot rectangular tables measure 96 × 30 inches. At the standard 30-inch height, the difference is two extra feet of length—not additional width.

The eight-foot top provides five additional square feet of surface. Those figures describe the tabletop only; they exclude chairs, guest movement and access around the table.

Decide what will sit on the table

For dining, think about place settings, serving dishes and decorations together. For a work table, lay out a laptop, notebook or the materials each participant will use. For a service station, measure the actual trays or equipment. This gives you a more useful comparison than selecting a length from the guest count alone.

Use a six-foot table when its shorter length suits a particular space or station. Consider an eight-foot table when the layout benefits from a longer uninterrupted surface. Either choice still needs enough surrounding space for people to use it comfortably.

Plan seating and end positions deliberately

Do not assume a universal seat count for every table arrangement. Chair width, place settings and the intended use affect how much working room people need. Decide which sides will be used before confirming the number of tables and chairs.

Joining rectangular tables changes the plan: a table end placed against another table is no longer an available end seat. A presenter-facing workshop may use just one long side. Sketch the complete arrangement and have the venue review access, occupancy and clearance requirements.

Match the linen to the table length

The same 60 × 120-inch linen hangs differently on these two tables. On a 72 × 30-inch top, it gives a 15-inch drop on the long sides and a 24-inch drop at the ends. On a 96 × 30-inch top, the long-side drop remains 15 inches but the end drop is 12 inches.

These drops are calculated from the listed tabletop dimensions. The matching-linen guide on each product page lets you choose the size and color without automatically adding a linen. You can mix linen sizes and colors in separate quantities.

Choose the model and services separately

Compare the plastic six-foot table, plastic eight-foot table and wood eight-foot banquet table. The wood banquet table is a specific catalog item; it should not be confused with a decorative farmhouse table.

Check the selected product’s options before adding it to your cart. Table setup or breakdown, linens and chairs should be reviewed as their own choices. Confirm delivery or eligible pickup and the final order details in the quote.

Build a list by table role

Label dining, food service, registration and display tables separately, even when they use the same model. Four dining tables plus one dedicated gift table means five tables in the order; the gift table is not spare dining capacity.

For an event in Mount Dora, Eustis, Tavares, Apopka, Leesburg or Clermont, share your date, address and table plan with CFER. Use the serving-table checklist if food stations are part of the setup, then request a quote for the equipment you need.
